Spectral Evolution's lightweight battery operated
portable spectroradiometers can be outfitted with FOV
lenses or fiber optics. Units can be handheld, tripod
mounted or carried with a shoulder strap or backpack
for easy use in the field. We offer fiber optic reflectance
probes and portable computers with wireless bluetooth
interfaces to speed up your data collection. Contact us
today and ask us about our portable case options and
custom accessories!
If you are using remote sensing for forest health, monitoring
climate change, developing satellite calibrations, mineral
identification and classification, antiquities restoration, urban
development tracking, botanical studies, or water body studies,
then SPECTRAL EVOLUTION can provide a range of field portable
With our instruments, you can apply hyperspectral
spectroradiometers to your research in the field, without lugging
around a heavy instrument backpack with a tangle of cables.
SPECTRAL EVOLUTION spectroradiometers provide:
- Fast, full-spectrum UV-VIS-NIR measurements - 350-2500 nm
with just one scan
- Superior reliability in the field with 100%diode array optics
with no moving parts
- Bluetooth interface - ditch the rats nest of cables
- Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries for field use
- Lightweight and rugged
- Standalone operation - internal memory holds 1000 scans
(PSR-3500)
- Getac PS-236 PDA provides GPS, photo tagging, a screen
that's made for viewing in direct sunlight, and an almost
unlimited capacity for scans
- Field switchable optics for varying target sizes and
measurement modes
All SPECTRAL EVOLUTION spectroradiometers include our
exclusive DARWin SP Data Acquisition and Analysis software for
one-touch, full range spectroscopic analysis of samples. DARWin
SP automatically saves data as ASCII files for use with 3rd party
software without post-processing.

True handheld convenience for field work or remote sensing!
Every SPECTRAL EVOLUTION handheld spectrometer can be
controlled via Bluetooth connection by a Windows-enabled
laptop or ruggedized personal digital assistant (PDA).
SPECTRAL EVOLUTION offers the GETAC PS336 PDA
preloaded with all necessary software to run all Bluetooth
enabled SPECTRAL EVOLUTION Spectrometers. The GETAC
can be used to tag spectra with GPS readings, photos (with its
built-in auto-focus camera) and voice notes with its built in
microphone. In this image, the PS236 was used to take a leaf
scan along with a photo of the leaf. The extra bright VGA
display can even be viewed in direct sunlight!

LEAF REFLECTANCE
The graph above shows reflectance spectra that were collected from green and
fiber optic illumination module, fitted with an optional 1.2meter bifurcated fiber
optic cable. The scans were generated using DARWin SP Data Acquisition
software included with each PSR-Series spectroradiometer. DARWin SP allows
users to plot multiple scans on the same graph for easy comparison and
analysis. All instruments feature automatic exposure control and auto-shutter
for error-free operation.
Geological Remote Sensing
SPECTRAL EVOLUTION spectroradiometers cover the UV/Vis/NIR
spectra and are supremely reliable in the field and can collect spectra in
as little as 100 milliseconds. In this graph, the PSR-3500 was used to
measure reflectance of kaolinite (purple), illite (green), montmorillonite
